Circular operation

30% of the food produced in the world does not reach our tables. These raw materials are by-products with valuable nutritional content, often produced on an industrial scale. Although the food industry is becoming more efficient in the use of all raw materials, significant amounts of by-products still remain. Agroloop has recognized the potential for sustainable and efficient recycling of these resources.

By utilizing the processes that nature has developed over millions of years, we can enrich our environment without any pollution. This renewable, circular operation is what makes Agroloop and its partners competitive.

Our feed supply partners are mostly involved in growing, processing, or distributing vegetables, fruits, or cereals. While the majority of their production is sold to consumers, their operations generate some by-products that can be channeled to feed livestock if they have a feed distribution license.

These by-products, collectively known as food by-products, represent up to 30% of the total amount of food produced worldwide and are mostly inefficiently utilized. However, Agroloop sees them as valuable raw materials and is determined to reintroduce them into the feeding cycle.

Value creation

Food by-products can be bulk homogeneous raw materials, whole and cut fruit and vegetable products, or packaged products. Our company uses only package-free products.

A pureed feed mass is prepared from the plant-based raw materials and prepared for feeding.
3. step
The stored material undergoes a special treatment to preserve its freshness and accelerate the larval growth process.

The hatchery

The collected eggs are incubated in a hatching block, where they are pre-farmed until they are ready to be transferred to the larvae rearing block a few days later. The young larvae are fed a special diet to help them become strong and resistant, and are then transferred to the rearing blocks in precisely counted numbers.

In a closed breeding block, the flies mate and lay their eggs. To maintain continuous production, our breeding department provides the offspring. To maintain our own colony of black soldier flies, we allow a small proportion of the breeding stock to pupate.

Rearing Block

Young larvae from the hatchery are distributed to the rearing blocks and provided with everything they need for their optimal development. The larvae stay in the rearing boxes filled with feed until the pre-pupal period. At this point, they have reached their ideal size, finished feeding, and are ready to be harvested.

Harvesting

1. step
The compost that has accumulated over time is sieved out from under the adult larvae. The digestive residue of the larvae is a nutrient-rich natural soil conditioner, which can be effectively sold after further treatment.
2. step
The adult larvae are thoroughly washed so that they are neutralised, and then dried in a dryer to reach the ideal dry matter content for further processing.

Processing

3. step
After the larvae die in hot water, processing continues by drying the adult larvae.
4. step
The dried larvae are placed in a press where the oil content is extracted.
5. step
The extracted oil undergoes a purification stage to reach its final consistency and is then stored in tanks.
6. step
The next step is to grind the remaining larvae „cake" fine after the oil has been pressed.

Agroloop Organic Oil

Due to its ideal fatty acid composition, it can be easily digested by fish and other animals with monogastric digestive systems. It is also a useful raw material for the pharmaceutical industry as it can be broken down into different fractions.

Agroloop protein meal

Our product is available in the form of a liquefiable powder with 60% protein and 15% oil. Its broad-spectrum amino acid composition makes it a premium ingredient for sensitive dog diets, as well as starter diets for fish, poultry, and swine.
